The Bret Harte PTA organizes and supports a variety of events and programs throughout the school year. These activities help build community, enrich student learning, and create memorable experiences for our students and families.

PTA Events & Activities

The PTA helps organize events throughout the year that bring our school community together and create fun and engaging activities for our Bear families.

🐾 Ice Cream Social / Teacher Meet & Greet

Before the school year begins, families are invited to meet their new teachers and connect with other Bret Harte families. The PTA provides ice cream, welcomes new families, and shares information about the upcoming school year.

🐾 School Spirit & Celebrations

We help students feel excited about being at school. On the first day of school we roll out the red carpet with music, a balloon arch, and a photo area to welcome students and families. Throughout the year we support Spirit Week and provide incentives for classroom achievements.

🐾 School Dance

Our Back-to-School Dance and Valentine’s Dance are fun opportunities for students and families to gather for music, food, and dancing.

🐾 Family Art Night

Families are invited to create art together during Family Art Night. Many of these creations are later displayed during the school’s annual Art Show.

🐾 Family Movie Night

A fun evening where Bret Harte families come together to enjoy a movie under the stars or in the multipurpose room.

🐾 Fall Festival

Our annual community celebration featuring music, food, games, prizes, trunk-or-treat, and fun activities for students and families.

🐾 Teacher Appreciation

Our teachers and staff do an incredible job supporting our students. The PTA helps show appreciation throughout the year by coordinating activities during Teacher Appreciation Week and helping supply classrooms with materials like tissues, hand sanitizer, and art supplies.

🐾 Art Show

Each spring, the PTA helps organize the Bret Harte Art Show as part of Open House, showcasing the wonderful artwork created by our students.

🐾 Field Day Support

At the end of the school year, the PTA helps support Field Day activities by coordinating volunteers and providing supplies, treats, and games for students.

Student Programs

In addition to community events, the PTA helps fund and support programs that enrich student learning and wellbeing.

🐾 Garden Program

The Bret Harte garden provides hands-on learning where students explore science, nature, and sustainability through planting, harvesting, and outdoor discovery.

🐾 Arts & Enrichment

PTA funding helps bring arts programs, music activities, and special enrichment opportunities to Bret Harte students.

🐾 Library & Literacy

Reading is fundamental. The PTA supports the school library with new books, furniture, and volunteer librarians who help students discover books they love.

🐾 Attendance & Student Achievement

Getting students to school every day and on time is an important part of student success. The PTA supports the school’s efforts through attendance incentives and recognition during trimester Awards assemblies.

🐾 Student Belonging & Wellbeing

The PTA works with the principal and school staff to support initiatives that promote social-emotional learning and help every student feel safe, supported, and included.

🐾 Field Trip Support

The PTA helps fund field trips so students can experience learning beyond the classroom.
